Kim "Light Foot" Parks
Vice President of Dance Operations

Kim’s love affair with dancing began long before she discovered line dancing with Kenny J.  As you can see, she’s always been ready for the spotlight!

Kim first learned to dance at age 7, under the tutelage of Joan Myers Brown, the founder and creator of the renowned Philadanco dance troupe.  Her abilities were evident early on, and she excelled at ballet, tap, jazz and acrobatics.  “Aunt Joan” also recognized Kim’s photographic memory and uncanny ability to pick up steps quickly, and often relied on her to remember moves and routines from week to week.

In high school, Kim continued to strut her stuff while “representing for the Big Girls” on the JV and Varsity cheerleading squads.

In college, she performed in numerous step shows with her sorority sisters of Zeta Phi Beta and fraternity brothers of Phi Beta Sigma.  The Blue & White family is known for their style and flair, and naturally, since Kenny J is a Sigma, she was drawn to his wildness and fancy footwork!

Kim attended Kenny J’s class in Willingboro in October 2002.  Other students would always tell her that they were surprised by how light on her feet she was.  Thus, she was given the nickname “Lightfoot”.  By January 2003, she had proven herself and selected to be a member of the Sophisticated Funk Competition team.  Later that year, she was also selected to be a part of the Dave Bush Dancers.

Currently, Kim is an instructor for the IAKJP family, with classes in Camden and Willingboro.  Her classes are fast-paced and challenging as she specializes in the advanced dances.  She welcomes you to come and join the fun!!

Kim is the Vice President of dance operations.  In that capacity she is responsible for the development of new and creative ideas as it relates to dances.  Kim is the lead on bringing new dances back to the IAKJP family.  She is responsible for the establishment of new classes and the development of new instructors.  Kim is also the assistant choreographer for the Sophisticated Funk performance team.  If you're interested in teaching under the IAKJP umbrella or interested in becoming a Funksta call Kim.  If you have an idea for a new dance or a suggetsed song for a new dance, call Kim.  If you know a location in need of a class, call Kim.  Kim is waiting to hear from you.
