THE IAKJP SOCIAL CLUB IS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
|
|
"FOOTWORK WITH A PURPOSE"
The IAKJP Social Club is an organization committed to facilitating the efforts of "I am Kenny J Productions" and assisting in its goals to promote community wellness and strengthen the lifestyles of people regardless of their situation in life. While our primary focus is to promote the ideals of dance as a major component to wellness, it is our mission to make a difference in the lives of people from all lifestyles. Our motto is “Footwork with a Purpose” and our mission is to promote a Quality of Life agenda that is solely committed to reaching out and helping others whose circumstances make it difficult for them to achieve things on their own.

IAKJP NATIONAL LEVEL INITIATIVES
IAKJP JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS! The number of people living with multiple sclerosis increases every hour of every day. This astonishing rate is not going to diminish, nor will it stop, until we've found a cure. Research has made some incredible advances recently, but the world can still only offer disease management drugs and therapies to the 400,000 people living with MS in America.
IAKJP has formed a team for the MS Bike Tour because we know that riding 150 miles is nowhere near as difficult as confronting a lifetime with multiple sclerosis. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society gives us all reason to hope, though. In addition to supporting novel research projects around the globe, they also provide much needed education, programs, and services to everyone who is affected by MS - including the diagnosed, their friends and families, and the healthcare professionals who work with them.
Join our team as a cyclist or a volunteer! Make a donation online! Send in a check! Talk to your employer about becoming a sponsor of the MS Bike Tour! There are so many ways to make a difference in the fight against MS, and it all begins right here. Click here to join us
IAKJP JOINS THE FIGHT AGAINST BREAST CANCER! IAKJP is taking on an amazing journey and we’d like your support. Thousands of women and men are going to walk 60 miles over the course of three days to raise money for breast cancer research and community outreach through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Together, the IAKJP team is planning on raising in excess of $10,000.00 to help end breast cancer forever. Each team member will strive to raise $2,500.00.
Because every woman is at risk for breast cancer - a disease that strikes at random and for which the causes and cures are still unknown - I know that every moment counts. Without a cure, an estimated 25 million women around the world will be diagnosed with breast cancer - and 10 million could die - over the next 25 years.
Support our team! Make a donation online! Send in a check! Talk to your employer about becoming a sponsor for this cause! There are so many ways to make a difference in the fight against Breast Cancer, and it all begins right here. Click here to join us

IAKJP MONTHLY CHARITABLE DRIVE
Our Community Outreach Committee initiated a monthly charitable drive that has been highly successful. Each month, Hope Scully (project Coordinator) leads the charge at our Beginners' Ball (R&B/Soul Line Dance Social) as we collect items for the needy. We select a theme that coincides with the charitable donation of the month and the recipient. We use that theme to match the drives with the various agency needs.
Our initial drive in November 2007 was a substantial Food Drive that benefited the Children’s Home of Burlington County and Volunteers of America. For the holiday season nearly 100 Teen Gifts were distributed to Robin’s Nest and The Children’s Home of Burlington County. Our January initiative called for “Coats for the Needy.” An abundant response provided gently used and new coats to Woman’s Space, Camden County Woman’s Center, and Greater Philadelphia Cares.
We are enthusiastic and excited about our upcoming drives, as our supporters have been overwhelmingly responsive. We are perpetually grateful for their kind hearts and giving hands. Continued generosity from our patrons will enable us to continue to provide donations to the above-listed agencies.
Monthly Themes
January: "Wrapped in Warmth" Coats for the Needy Drive February: "Each One Reach One" Educational Drive March: "Honoring Our Elders" Needs for Senior Citizens Drive April: "Fit and Fun" Sporting Goods Drive May: "Clean Sweep" Household Items Drive June: "Baby Love" New Baby and Children’s Items Drive July: "IAKJP Scholarship Drive" August: "Academic Excellence" School Supplies Drive September: "I Got Your Back" Clothing Drive October: "Card It" Drive for Gift Cards/Phone Cards/Skating and Bowling Passes November: “Giving Thanks" Food Drive December: “Happy Holidays" Teen Gifts Drive.

IAKJP CHARITABLE R&B/SOUL LINE DANCE TOUR

IAKJP brings an awesome recipe of energetic and healthy attitudes laced with a super large dose of fun as we embark upon our Charitable Line Dance Tour. Coordinated by Patrice Barnes, (project coordinator) and led by Kim "Lightfoot" Parks (lead instructor), we send a team of IAKJP dancers out to heal our communities through dance. This project gets the creative and fitness juices of the participants churning. They are able to de-stress while learning dance patterns to R& B music, and receiving uplifting encouragement from IAKJP instructors and members. These free private line dance sessions enable youth-at-risk and women in transitional residencies to engage in exuberant physical exercise while challenging their memorization skills. The Agency providers are extremely excited about the benefits to their clients and look forward to the tour dates scheduled throughout 2008.
